Degree Information

The doctor of engineering degree, like the doctor of philosophy degree, represents the highest attainable educational level in engineering study and practice. This degree is awarded to candidates who have pursued a broad program of study, completed an acceptable engineering internship, passed all prescribed examinations, submitted satisfactory practice-oriented dissertation, and met all graduation requirements described here. The D.E. degree requires a minimum of 90 graduate credit hours.

Research in Civil Engineering

Our faculty's research interests and expertise encompass a wide range of subject areas.

Each year, faculty projects receive external funding from such agencies as NASA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).
