Dimitri Feys, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Materials Engineering

Research Interests

  • Linking mix design, placement and performance of concrete through rheology:

Rheology

  • Influence of mix design on yield stress, viscosity, non-linearity, thixotropy and their evolution with time
  • Measuring, analysis, interpretation of rheological properties, controlling measuring artefacts
  • Linking rheology and hydration
  • Behavior of air bubbles during flow under pressure
  • Particle migration during flow

Placement

  • Prediction of pumping pressure
  • Dynamic segregation during flow

Performance

  • Influence of pumping parameters on rheology, air-void system and freeze-thaw resistance
  • Effect of placement on homogeneity of concrete
  • Rheology of complex materials and suspensions
